Koumas/Cooper: Fees agreed!14 March 2002Following yesterday's announcement by Tranmere that they were prepared to sell Jason Koumas to Albion came the announcement that a fee had been agreed. Depending where you read the news, the fee is either £2.4 million or £2.75 million - the difference of £355,000 being the part of the fee that would become payable if Albion achieved promotion to the Premiership. And then, just when we started thinking that the bid for Wimbledon's Kevin Cooper might just have been a way of prodding Tranmere into action, comes the announcement that we have agreed a fee for him too! This time, the fee is said to be in the region of a million. Whether both signings will come off, or even be pursued to conclusion, is of course far from certain - but if they do, we will start to see some serious competition for places in the midfield.
