Manager? No, just dithering

04 November 2004

As the search for a new manager continues in an apparently aimless and lethargic fashion, two contrasting reports have appeared in today's papers. The Sun says that the appointment of Glenn Hoddle is a done deal, and that he will join after the Southampton game because he didn't want to face his old club.

The Mirror, however, reckons that Hoddle has dithered too long over accepting the job and that the Club are now making an approach for Wigan manager Paul Jewell instead, and reckons that Wigan would be prepared to let us talk to them about it. Whether that's a serious move or an attempt to persuade Hoddle to accept the job remains to be seen. However, the Wigan official web site echoes the Club themselves on Sky, saying that no approach has been made yet and that as far as they're concerned he's going nowhere.

Meanwhile, QPR are said to be interested in taking striker Rob Hulse on loan, a move that would appear to be a good way of getting him fully fit and scoring again.
