Hughes bid snubbed

04 March 2002

According to the official Coventry City website, the Sky Blues have turned down an approach from Albion to take striker Lee Hughes back on loan. It quotes their new Chairman, Mike McGinnity, saying:

"Albion Chairman Paul Thompson contacted me today and enquired as to the availability of Lee Hughes. I told him there is no way that we would consider loaning one of our players - especially to a promotion rival."

Hughes has been out of the side for a couple of weeks due to injury, but featured in their 4-2 defeat yesterday at the hands of Manchester City. No doubt Coventry will be revelling in our desperation now that Jason Roberts has been forced out of action for the rest of the season - but if you don't at least ask, you'll never get...
