FA Cup QF: Fulham at home

17 February 2002

The big guns of Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea have all been avoided in our quarter final draw: we've got a home game against Fulham, who saw off Walsall yesterday. Also still in the draw are Everton and Crewe, who drew 0-0 earlier today and still have to slug it out again at Gresty Road, and Middlesbrough, who beat Blackburn.

For some reason, a home tie against Fulham seems a more attractive proposition than Cheltenham, although the Londoners will struggle to make more of an atmosphere. It's quite possible that we'll be the last team left from outside the Premiership - no mean achievement...

This will be our 30th Quarter-final and up to now our success rate has been almost 66%, having WON 19 and LOST 10.

However, since this stage was designated Round Six back in the twenties, we've achieved an exceptional success rate of 75% - PLAYED 12, WON 9 and LOST 3.

Even better is our record over the last fifty years. In SEVEN games, all against top division sides, we have achieved an 86% success rate of WON 6 LOST 1. In five of those victories we triumphed against a side that finished above us in the league! Let's hope we can carry on the trend.

The game is to be played over the weekend of 9th/10th March, which will mean a postponement of our home game against Crewe.
