Balis red-tape slashed?28 November 2000The move for Slovakian wing-back Igor Balis appears to have taken another step towards completion, with the work permit issue not thought to be the cause of any problems according to his agents. Another blocker - his current Club's valuation of £450,000 for a 30 year old who is out of contract in the summer - shows signs of being resolved as well, with Albion working hard to reach an agreement. No closer, however, is the signing of soon to be ex-Stockport County keeper Carlo Nash, whose demands are still way above what Albion consider reasonable. In a clear dig at Nash, John Wile said that personal terms for Balis were not likely to cause a problem - "Balis is living in the real world, unlike some other players...". Interviewed tonight on Capital Gold Birmingham, however, Wile suggested that Nash was attempting to reopen talks, and had been horrified to find out what his agent had been asking for. What's even more suprising is that he found out through his own club, and not his agent - maybe something will be happening here after all. In the meantime, Stockport are trying to make a permanent deal for on-loan keeper Andy Dibble - suggesting that they are resigned to the departure of Nash in the summer. Unless he does some quick negotiating, he might find himself at a bit of a loose end next August...
