Evans goes out on loan

19 August 2000

Albion striker Mickey Evans has joined 2nd Division side Bristol Rovers on loan. The move follows Rovers' curious decision to sell striker Jamie Cureton to Reading for a mere £250,000 - considerably less than his former strike partner Jason Roberts fetched when he signed for Albion a month ago - surely not the result of financial pressure?

PS: Evans scored for Rovers as they drew 2-2. A comment was made along the lines "How can West Brom manage without him?"
