Things not working out for Clint

26 February 2000

The signing of Clint Marcelle, officially announced by the Club on Thursday, has run into problems. Marcelle was released by Barnsley from his contract there and agreed a deal to sign for Albion till the end of the season, but this made his existing work permit invalid and the Overseas Labour Department have refused a new one on the grounds that he has failed to make the required number of International appearances for his country. Albion have appealed against the decision on the grounds that he has been out of action with injuries, but this process could take two weeks to happen.

In the meantime, Albion Director Barry Hurst told a local radio station that the Club are waiting for responses to bids for three players, one of which is £750,000 for a striker, although he rightly declined to name them.
