Kiely joins Albion!

30 January 2007

Tuesday's Sun carries the news that Portsmouth keeper and Republic of Ireland International Dean Kiely will be joining Albion on loan. However, according to Portsmouth's Official Site, the former Charlton shot-stopper is currently on loan to Luton Town; Baggies will be well aware of this as he played against us in our recent win over them at the Hawthorns.

The story adds that Albion's move for Middlesbrough keeper Brad Jones, as part of a deal that would have taken Zoltan Gera in the other direction, has fallen through.

Update

Excellenet news - Kiely has joined, but on a permanent 18 month contract not a loan. Tony Mowbray has been quoted as saying it will improve the squad and increase competition for places, but we find it hard to see Kiely not becoming first choice keeper straight away.

Not such good news elsewhere on transfers - Albion target Scott Thompson looks set to be joining Rangers after the clubs agreed a fee of 2 million.
