Albion accept Ellington request

Albion have "reluctantly" accepted a transfer request from striker Nathan Ellington, but warned that this won't mean him being allowed to leave on the cheap. The striker made the request for personal and professional reasons, and all parties deny that there has been any falling out between him and manager Tony Mowbray. Far from it, in fact - Ellington's performances under Mowbray have shown more than a few glimpses of the player we expected him to be when we bought him.

Not much sign of anyone else coming in at the moment either - Birmingham appear to be determined not to lose out to us on anyone's signing after they missed out on Curtis Davies and seem to have suddenly found money to burn; they've made a somewhat inflated bid of ?3.5 million for Luton's Rowan Vine to make sure of getting their man.
