Quashie sold for ?1.5 million

08 January 2007

Midfielder Nigel Quashie has left West Bromwich Albion for West Ham in a deal worth ?1.75 million. Manager Tony Mowbray said that he'd expressed a desire to return to the Premiership, which makes it pretty obvious that he was one of the ones who "didn't want to be here" that he's alluded to previously.

The deal is structured as ?1.5 million now plus an additional 250k if West Ham stay up this season (unlikely given Quashie's record of getting clubs relegated) or if they get promoted again while he's still under contract there (perhaps a bit more likely).

Hopefully the funds will be made available for Mowbray to use in bringing in players he wants before the window closes in a few weeks time.
