New midfielder!05 January 2007Koren. He might sound like a character from Star Trek, but Robert Koren is actually our first new signing of the January transfer window - an attacking midfielder who has scored 10 goals in his last 26 starts for Norweigan club Lillestrom. Albion have picked him up on a Bosman as it seems he's been keen to move to England to prove himself; the 26 year old has already done so at International level after representing Slovenia 21 times and scoring once. Albion boss Tony Mowbray describes him as a "technical footballer". Long-time BOING reader Torbjorn describes him as "The best attacking midfielder in the Norweigan league". The thought of him and Jason Koumas together has us drooling slightly. Elsewhere, rumours continue to circulate about players leaving the Hawthorns, with Ellington, Gera, Hartson and Quashie all supposedly the subject of interest. Gera has had a disappointing season so far after having two transfer requests turned down in the summer, and Koren would appear to be a direct replacement.
