Striker bid rejected ?

03 August 2004

Albion have had a bid of 5 million Euros (roughly ?3?million) turned down for Anderlecht striker Aruna Dindane, according to a report on Sky Sports. The same bid has been made and turned down from - almost inevitably, Portsmouth - although the report says that Dindane has issued a "come and get me" plea to them.

However, one BOING reader reckons he saw Dindane arrive at the Hawthorns yesterday in a black Mercedes with Belgian plates, accompanied by his advisors. Dindane is an Ivory Coast International and Belgian Player of the Year, and is looking to leave Anderlecht for bigger things, though his club are not going to let him go cheaply and even scorned his desire to move to Portsmouth, saying he should go to a bigger club than them.

Their opinion of Albion and their relative size wasn't mentioned.

The Birmingham Post is now reporting that Albion have had a ?4 million bid for Dindane turned down, with Anderlecht saying "There's no question of Dindane being allowed to leave for that kind of money".
