Ex-Baggie for Man U Post?15 September 2003Former Albion man Martin Jol is set to become the new assistant manager at Old Trafford, according to reports in the Northwest. Jol has met with Alex Ferguson, who has been looking for a new second in command since the departure of Carlos Queiroz to Real Madrid in the summer, and the media suggest that he is on the verge of making the announcement. Jol, who made a total of 68 appearances for Albion between 1981 and 1983 and scored four goals, went on to move across the Midlands to Coventry City. He is currently coaching Dutch club RKC Waalwijk. If given the job, he would replace another ex-Albion man, Mike Phelan, who has been carrying out the role on a temporary basis.
