Thankyou, Baggies

07 September 2003

There's not much we can add to the contents of these two letters except to say "well done" to all the Baggies that made the effort to show their support: ]

Hi lads and lasses.

On Saturday the 6th of September 2003, the world's oldest Football League club played possibly their last ever match. Here at Notts County we are in the throes of losing our status as a professional football league club after fourteen months in administration. This, most are pretty much aware of. However if there is no future for Notts, then at least there is evidence that the family of the football fan has a bright future.

At the Notts County v Luton match on Saturday, the family came together and representatives of your club were at the "party/wake". Please find enclosed myself on the left and a couple of our junior magpies holding proudly aloft the work and sentiment of a young baggie who with his Father and various other WBA people came to offer their support to my "dying club"... Thank you.

I hope that before this mail comes to public attention, my club's fate may be sealed... but not first without the expressed appreciation and respect your club deserve for these people... from all of "mine".

Many best wishes,
Mikki Twyer, Nottingham

Dear Baggies fans,

I am a stalwart Notts County supporter, and wanted to thank your supporters for travelling to the land of Robin Hood to support our team on Saturday. It was touching to see how many WBA fans (proudly wearing their team shirts) were there. We are the founders of the Football League and the oldest club and it is vital to keep the spirit alive. You are fab and I hope you boing boing straight back up to the Premier League. You must be one of the best sets of supporters in the league.

Thanks and good luck
Pam Pearce
