League Cup: Brentford at Home

25 June 2003

Not content with repeating history for our first League game, away at Walsall on August 9th, we've now got a further repeat in our first League Cup game (now called the Carling Cup).

Our opponents for the first round will be Brentford, who knocked us out of the League Cup in the first round back in 1998 by turning our 2-1 win in the home leg (goals from Mickey Evans and Lee Hughes) into a an aggregate 2-4 defeat by hammering us 3-0 down at their place. That was the occasion when Albion wore their all-blue shirt without permission and it never saw the light of day again - except as a "leisure shirt" in the club shop.

The game is to be played in the week commencing 11th August. Plenty of scope for improvement from last time - at least it's only a one-leg game now...
