SuperBob goes sweet

Wibb and Bob
Wibb hands bob the lolly (arf!)
Earlier in the season, BOING was instrumental in the production and selling of Super Bob Bon Bons - a special range of sweeties to commemorate Bob's testimonial season. The sweets were made by the Sela Sweet company, just down the road towards the centre of West Bromwich, courtsesy of Baggies-mad James Roberts, and sold by BOING with help from the Grorty Dick team. Bob even paid a visit during the manufacture and had a hand in making them! Sela, of course, also made the Astles Mintoes, the original BOING BOING Bon Bons and the legendary Sherbert BOINGers.

We finally got round to totting up the proceeds and getting Bob himself in to pick up the cheque for £573.17 from BOING treasurer Keith "Wibb" Wibberley - pictured above are Wibb and Bob with the giant comedy cheque which will cause no end of fun as he tries to get it through those narrow little slots in the counter at the bank...

Thanks to all those that bought them and played a part in selling them around the ground.

Don't forget - Bob's testimonial match is tomorrow night (Tuesday 13th May) and so far only about nine thousand tickets have been sold. Steve Bull got something like 20,000 for his testimonial - and Bob deserves better, so get yourself down to the Hawthorns and give him your support! The main match is between the Albion first team and a Bryan Robson XI being put together by the Albion legend, although the lineup is unknown at the moment as clubs are being persuaded to release their players for the occasion. Before the main game is a warmup game between the promotion-winning side of 1993 and a group of Albion supporters - we can't help but feel that experience will triumph over enthusiasm!

The warmup game kicks off at 6:45 and tickets are £15 on the gate (or in advance from the ticket office). Be there, or.....well, just be there, really.
