FA Cup: Bradford at home

08 December 2002

Albion have been handed a reasonably favourable third round FA Cup tie for a change, and will face struggling Bradford City at home during the first weekend of January. Date and time are yet to be confirmed subject to TV requirements, police restrictions and so on.

Although our most recent meeting was one of the most memorable games of the promotion season, with Igor Balis putting us into the driving seat for automatic promotion with his dramatic last minute penalty, our last meeting in the FA Cup was in the fourth round back in 1936, in the days of William "Ginger" Richardson. Bradford eventually beat us 2-0 in the second round replay at Old Trafford - Both previous games had ended 1-1, the second after extra time, with Walter Robbins scoring in the first and Teddy Sandford putting away a penalty in the second.
