Greve set for promotion!

Albion's Danish nursery club, Greve, is hot on the trail of its English partner. After an impressive run of 12 wins from 15 games, Greve are sitting on top of their regional division, Sjaellandsserien, with three games still to play. Greve, the largest Danish football club when measured by the quantity of its active members, will secure their first promotion in 13 years on Saturday if they beat local rivals Roskilde KFUM. The league Winner and runner up gain promotion to the lowest Danish national league, with the third placed team entering the playoffs.

Before season started, Greve were boosted by the signing of Carsten Hallum, former FC Copenhagen striker, and after the summer break he was joined by Kenneth Kastrup from Herfoelge (Danish champions 2000 - and Richard Sneekes' new club) and Benny Mundt, a former Greve player but who has played at a much higher level for many years. These three have formed the backbone of the side and have given the youngsters the confidence to go for victory in every game.

Greve's fanclub, "Den Blaa Boelge", face a harsh decision on Saturday afternoon if they win - the celebrations will see many a £35 ticket to Denmarks EC-qualifier the same evening torn up as they indulge in champagne and cigars - and probably a fair quantity of those dodgy Danish sausages.
