McInnes has signed

According to Derek McInnes' own website at www.derekmcinnes.com, the Albion midfielder has already signed a new contract. The new deal runs through to the end of next season (summer 2004), and although he would have liked an extra year on top of that, he will be 34 when the new deal finishes and the club felt that they didn't want to extend it that far.

Derek gave praise to the club and it's supporters, saying that it had been a privilege to play for them, and added a strong hint that he may think about retiring when the new deal runs out:

"This is the place where I?m looking to finish off my career. I?ve absolutely loved playing for West Brom since I got here, it?s been a privilege to play for the club and the supporters."

"My aim now is to get back playing again and to go on and earn myself another contract after this one, which would be perfect."
