Sadlier move unlikely

19 August 2002

Albion's rumoured move for Millwall striker Richard Sadlier is now unlikely to happen. Sadlier will be out of action for the next two months because of complications following his hip operation in the summer. According to Millwall's official site, he came agonisingly close to a return to action, but the operation had failed to heal properly and a fresh examination by the specialist has revealed that the problem could even take as long as a further nine months to clear up properly. With the transfer window closing on Albion's bid to reinforce the squad at the end of August, the chances of a move are now practically non-existent. Sadlier's team mate Steven Reid, another rumoured Albion target, is also out of action for a month with an ankle problem - which makes the chances of him joining us pretty remote too.

However, reports today have said that Jason Koumas is likely to sign for Albion this week, with the club prepared to up their offer to a level acceptable to Tranmere.
