More Koumas news

Today's Liverpool Echo reckons the transfer of Jason Koumas is as good as done:

"Gary Megson is set to secure the Welsh international in a £2m transfer."

"Albion's latest bid for Koumas comes five months after the player turned down a £2.5m switch to the Baggies."

"Having held out for a transfer to Everton which never materialised, the 22-year-old is now prepared to join his best friend Joe Murphy at West Brom."

"Megson has a £5m transfer kitty burning a hole in his pocket and is eager to add two players to his squad before the transfer deadline, with Koumas his top priority after skipper Andy Johnson submitted a transfer request."

"Koumas has been assured of a central midfield role as the Baggies' playmaker after convincing the Albion coaching staff he has what it takes with a glittering start to the new season."

Interestingly, this is the first mention of a transfer budget available to Megson - but coming from a reporter who thinks AJ is Albion's captain, we're not taking it too seriously. The prospect of JK as a central midfield playmaker is also interesting, as it suggests even more competition for the three midfield spots if we stick with the 3-5-2 formation.

conspiracy theorists have already suggested that Albion signed Jason's mate Murphy in order to help persuade him to join us...
