Megson agrees new contract26 January 2001West Bromwich Albion Manager Gary Megson has signed a new five year contract which will keep him in place until 31st December 2005 - despite having three years left to run on the contract he signed at the start of this season. The new deal comes as recognition from the Club of Gary's success in steering them from relagation candidates to promotion hopefuls in a remarkable space of time, and clearly signals their intention to hold onto him. Chief executive John Wile said, "Gary has done a very good job in his eleven months here, and the success that he has generated on the field has complemented off the field projects such as the construction of the East Stand and the acquiring of the Football Development Centre. The club has made a great deal of progress since Paul Thompson was appointed Chairman and everyone at the club is committed to maintaining the momentum. We believe stability is important at the football club and we are absolutely delighted that Gary has chosen to commit his future to West Bromwich Albion for the next five years."
