Owen leaves the Board

05 January 2000

The West Bromwich Albion Board has dwindled still further with the news that Philip Owen has resigned over the weekend. Owen was on the Football Club board, rather than the plc board, but it is understood that the two boards met together anyway.

This now leaves the sum of the two boards looking remarkably similar to the way it looked a year or so ago, given that Thompson, Hurst and Stapleton have all rejoined and Driscoll, Owen and Colston have left. In fact, the only changes from then are that Cardall has joined (although he was already working full time for the Club) and that the Chairmanship has moved from Tony Hale to Paul Thompson. This would seem to be a pity as Driscoll, certainly, appeared to have earned the respect of many fans. Will what is now a relatively minor reshuffle finally pay off?
