Nice little Bonus for Brucey

10 October 2022

Albion have parted company with manager Steve Bruce following a disappointing run of games which saw them pick up just one win out of 9 this season. The 1000th game of his managerial career ended in a goalless draw at home to Luton and saw them drop into the relegation zone, somewhere that most view as a complete underachievement given the quality in the squad. Although he later justified them due to injuries, some of his substitutions led to booing from the crowd and chants of "you don't know what you're doing". Three of his backroom staff - Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce - will also be leaving.

According to Albion fan and journalist Adrian Goldberg, Bruce will walk away with a tidy payoff of around £1.1 million to top up the £8 million received a year ago when he was sacked by Newcastle.

U21 coach Richard Beale take charge on a caretaker basis until a new appointment is made, helped by coaches James Morrison and Gary Walsh.
