More rumours...18 July 2006Seems like the news from Cardiff was a bit wide of the mark after all. Cardiff have issued an official statement on their web site, accusing Albion of playing by the rules... or something. The statement suggests we're being unreasonable, demanding so much for Koumas that it would jeopardise their stadium plans, ruining the career and violating the human rights of the poor, misunderstood little Welshman International. They appear to have conveniently forgotten the big cash prize they've just banked from the sale of Cameron Jerome... Meanwhile, the price tag on defender Curtis Davies seems to be getting larger every day. Albion are reported in the Telegraph to have turned down a bid of ?8.5 million from Portsmouth, who are now "apparently" ready to offer as much as ?12 million. This would seem too expensive for Arsenal, who will be without defender Phillipe Senderos for the first few months of the season; Arsene Wenger is quoted as saying: "Curtis Davies I like. I haven't made an enquiry or a bid, but I like the player. I will not be making a bid as high as ?10 million or ?12 million."
