Albion WILL play Sporting Lisbon

23 July 2005

Albion have announced that they will, reluctantly, play the rumoured fixture against Sporting Lisbon on Monday night. In a statement on the Official Web Site, the club state that the match had been arranged without their consent by the organisers of their Portugese trip, and that they are only playing in order to preserve their reputation and avoid letting people down.

Does that sounbd like a dig at the hierarchy of LA Galaxy, who cancelled their proposed fixture against Albion when they got a better offer? Yes, we thought so too...

The game is scheduled for 9:30pm on Monday 25th at Albufeira, but is subject to approval by FIFA.
