Purse gone?

20 July 2005

Albion defender Darren Purse has been sold to Cardiff City, according to their local press. An initial payment of ?100,000 has taken him to the new home of ex-Wolves and Southampton manager Dave Jones, with the amount rising according to appearances and so on to a maximum of ?600,000.

Jones is still keen to add Jason Koumas to his squad too, although his former employers are currently favourites to get him.

Update

Still no mention of the deal yet on Cardiffs official site, but apparently they and Southampton have both had offers for Purse accepted. The player, however, said a few days ago that he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Albion.
