Big Dave hits out...

10 February 2005

...and when Big Dave hits out, we don't think many people want to be in the firing line. Speaking in his diary on the Icons web site, Albion defender Darren Moore has rubbished reports earlier this week of him signing a new three and a half year contract, saying that he has been disappointed to receive no offer from the club at all.

"All I can say is that my contract expires on June 30, and that is it. I have been in to ask the club if they will be willing to extend my contract but they have given me no indication that they will. I would love to sign an extension and would be delighted to stay at the football club, but obviously that is out of my hands. The decision lies with the chairman and the manager."

"Neither one of them has indicated to me that I'll be staying at the club beyond my current deal. Hand on heart I am very disappointed that Bryan Robson and Jeremy Peace haven't come back to me with an offer. I thought that with all the success we've had at the club and the contribution I've made to that success that I would definitely be offered something. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to matter one iota."

Moore also dismissed rumours that he would join up again with Gary Megson at Nottingham Forest, but conceded that

"I never thought I would be leaving West Brom, but it's looking more and more likely now, so it would be foolish to turn my nose up at interest from other clubs."
