Almeyda calls it a day17 January 2005News has just broken that Matias Almeyda will NOT be joining West Bromwich Albion after all - he's decided to retire instead, and will be remaining in Argentina to sort out some unspecified family problems. It's disappointing, as the deal had been agreed to bring him here, but after returning home to try and resolve these problems, he decided to stay put. It's also a blow to Albion's hopes of making enough signings to have a chance of Premiership survival - we now have less than half the transfer window left to switch our attention to other targets. At least there is some good news - Darren Moore is set to make his comeback from a six week absence due to injury. The big defender will feature in the reserves game against Newcastle United tonight at Aggborough.
