Megson appointed Forest manager

10 January 2005

Gary Megson has been appointed as the new boss of Nottingham Forest, currently 23rd in the Coca-Cola Championship (formerly League Division 1, nee Division 2). Forest's chairman, Nigel Doughty, said of the appointment "Candidates of the track record of Gary Megson become available infrequently and it was too good an opportunity to miss".

Megson had a brief spell as a player at Forest when Brian Clough took over, but the two didn't seem to get on and Megson never played for the first team. We'd like to wish Gary all the best in his new job, which seems tailor-made for him to do the same as he did with Albion. Unless we happen to meet them in the Cup, of course...
