Earnshaw signs!!

30 August 2004

According to the Official Web Site, Cardiff City and Wales International striker Rob Earnshaw has signed a three year contract with West Bromwich Albion for a fee of ?3 million. Performance related add-ons to the deal could see it rise to as much as ?3.65 million, and the club has the option of one extra year.

Earnshaw scored 26 goals for Cardiff in last year's Division One campaign, and seven times in thirteen games for Wales. Some may have doubts as to whether he can reproduce this form in the Premiership, which perhaps explains why nobody else has snapped him up yet - but we reckon he's got a fair chance with that track record. His Welsh team mates, Andy Johnson and Jason Koumas, have spoken very highly of him.

Earnshaw now has two weeks to train with the squad ready for the game against Liverpool on 11th September at Anfield. By that time, hopefully, Thomas Gaardsoe will have recovered from the ankle injury he picked up at Everton.
