Wimbledon a blessing after all?

18 March 2004

No one likes to prosper from another teams ill fortune. But us Baggies might like to consider the possible fallout of Wimbledon FC going into liquidation (which could happen today).

All their results could be expunged from the season so far. Our shocking record against the division's basement boys will then be erased - and we'd lose a point. Our rival's far superior record against the Wombles will see most of them docked valuable points (Norwich 6 and West Ham 4 while Sheffield United, Sunderland, Wigan, Millwall and Ipswich all have 3 plus whatever they might get out of the games they have yet to play).

Hell of a way to get promoted, but it might prove our luck's in this year.

Update:

It was a nice thought while it lasted, but latest news is that Wimbledon's creditors have voted to accept a takeover offer from Peter Winkelman's InterMK consortium and the club hope to be out of administation by the end of April.
