Make way for the Horse!

15 December 2003

Wigan Athletic have accepted a bid for striker Geoff Horsfield from West Bromwich Albion, and it now only remains for us to get through the hard part - agreeing personal terms. Although the fee has not been disclosed, it is believed to be in the region of one million - about the same as Wigan paid Birmingham for his services back in the summer.

With Albion fast running out of available strikers - Dichio has just had a hernia operation and Hughes is in something of a limbo while awaiting his next court appearance in February - a new face up front has become something of a necessity to keep up our promotion campaign. Horsfield is still highly rated by Blues fans, some of whom have even been urging their club to bring him back from Wigan.
