Cort a new striker?

27 October 2003

According to Capital Gold this morning, Albion are looking to take Newcastle striker Carl Cort on a months loan. With Dichio and Roberts both out on loan, to Derby and Portsmouth respectively, the club are down to only three senior strikers and Megson blamed them for the defeat by Wimbledon last Tuesday.

Reports over the weekend had also linked us with former Villa and Man United striker Dwight Yorke, now with Blackburn Rovers, and previous rumours had surrounded Birmingham City's Stern John, though his departure may have left them a little light up front too.

Fortunately for Rob Hulse, his two well-taken goals at Rotherham may well ensure that it's not him that gets dropped for the new man. However, with us facing Newcastle in Wednesday night's League Cup game, it might be possible that Cort is not allowed to play and that everyone's position will be safe for now...
