Three new faces for Walsall?

05 August 2003

It looks as if Albion will have three additional players joining the squad in time for the start of the season on Saturday at Walsall. For starters, International clearance has now been received for Artim Sakiri after the fuss over work permits was finally resolved.

Now, TeamTalk reports that one year contracts have been given to the two defenders who played on trial for Albion in some of the pre-season friendlies: Joost Volmer and Sekou Berthe. Both are big lads; Volmer, already nicknamed The Terminator by some fans, is Dutch - and Berthe, who impressed all those who watched him in Denmark, is from Mali but qualifies for a French passport, so neither has any problems with work permits.

After all the problems experienced last season, it looks like we'll finally have a defence made up of defenders!
