Thompson in hot water?

21 April 2003

Former Albion chairman Paul Thompson is being investigated by the Takeover Panel, according to the Sunday Mercury. It follows his statement about the reasons for selling his shares to Jeremy Peace, in which he expresses the view that he fears that shares in the club could become worthless following recent events. The report suggests that Thompson may be called on to explain his comments, which could possibly influence other shareholders to sell their shares under the offer that Peace is now obliged to make.

The report seems to miss the obvious, however - people don't tend to sell their shares if they believe they will make money by holding on to them...
