Stars at match to honour stalwart Alan

Former Aston Villa and Albion legends will be returning to the pitch this weekend to battle it out in a charity soccer match in memory of a long-standing member of Stourbridge Football Club.

Ex-Aston Villa and former West Bromwich Albion players are taking part in the match in memory of Alan Pitt, who had been a committee member of the Black Country club for 25 years. He died last October after suffering a heart attack. He had been writing a book on the club's history at the time.

The match is due to take place at Stourbridge Football Club, Amblecote, on Sunday in aid of the British Heart Foundation and Sunfield residential school in Clent. Gates open at noon and legends including Gordon Cowans, Tony Daley, Tony Morley and Nigel Spink will be turning out.

Hagley-born BBC presenter Adrian Chiles will also be making a special guest appearance. The match kicks off at 2.30pm and will be followed by an auction in the clubhouse where lots include a year's membership of Fitness First in Brierley Hill, which is worth £463. Entry to the event is by a programme costing £2, which are available from Stourbridge College Information Centre in High Street or from Stourbridge Football Club.

There will also be a pig roast and other refreshments, children's entertainment, fundraising stalls and a bar. All profits from the event will be split between the two charities.
