Siggy pulls out14 October 2002Latest news from the Icelandic International team is that Albion defender Larus Sigurdsson has withdrawn himself from their squad for Wednesday's game against Lithuania on the grounds that he has broken "squad rules". He gave a press release today revealing he had broken the curfew imposed on the team, and local TV reports suggest he was involved in some sort of scuffle in a Reykjavik bar on Saturday night, when he was thrown out after allegedly pouring beer over some bloke's head after a a heated argument. Icelandic National coach Edvaldson apparently says he had NOT broken the rules, but Sigurdsson has withdrawn himself from the squad anyway, saying he?s very sorry and wishes the team all the best. Bizarre stuff indeed. Previous Stories:10 October 2002: Sunderland name duo 10 October 2002: Greve set for promotion! 08 October 2002: Chelsea ticket update Back to the News Index |
