ITV Digital to close

30 April 2002

The administrators of ITV Digital have announced that the channel's pay-TV operations will be shut down in the next few hours. Free to air channels will continue to be shown while they look at deals for the company's assets.

Although this seems to be bad news for Albion fans who hoped to enjoy the Wolves vs Norwich game tomorrow night - or, indeed, Norwich fans who couldn't get tickets, ITV have announced that the ITV Sport Channel, which they claim is NOT in financial difficulty, will now be shown as a free-to-air service in order to honour their commitment to broadcast the League playoffs. The semi-final second leg games between Wolves and Norwich (Wednesday), Millwall and Birmingham (Thursday) and the Division Three, Two and One finals will all be shown free of charge.
