Albion bid for Taylor

10 January 2002

No, not the other Bob Taylor (who's just been transfer listed over at Dingle central) but Matthew Taylor, 20 year old goalscoring defender with Luton Town. Taylor has scored seven goals already this season and a statement on the official Luton web site said that Albion had offered £500,000 plus James Quinn for the player. Some might say, of course, that they'd have been better offering just the cash...

A statement from manager Joe Kinnear said that they'd turned down the bid, adding that Albion suggested that Quinn was a striker, and was worth £500,000 - but he disagreed. Kinnear added that he'd consider bids of 2 million for a "quick sale".
