Reid: No Discount for Danny14 October 2001The Sunderland Echo has carried some interesting quotes from Peter Reid regarding the Dichio situation. Albion have given the impression that the fee was agreed at the start of the loan period, but Sunderland have now raised it - but Sunderland say exactly the opposite, and that it's Albion that have come back with a lower offer than what was agreed. Reid says: "Danny's still our player and if things don't work out for him, I'd be happy to have him back at the club. I know that some fans have never taken to him, but he's always given his best for the club and his goals-to-games record is excellent. He's a good player, even though people tend to have a habit of under-rating him. We know how much he is worth and we won't let him leave the club for less than that. Danny is a player who will get goals, there's no doubt about that. And once he's fit again, he's bound to prove that. There are plenty of clubs who would love to have him in their side. Before he went to West Brom, the two clubs agreed a definite fee for him, in the event that Albion would want to buy him. That was part of the condition on which we agreed the loan deal. Now they've come back with a different figure altogether and that's not right.
