Brown: Bid rejected07 August 2001Albion are fuming with Bristol City after seeing their £600,000 bid for Aaron Brown turned down. Having finally met their valuation of the player, City raised it by another £150,000. Clearly annoyed about the change, possibly brought on by the prospect of Albion landing £5 million for Lee Hughes in the near future, John Wile said: "You cannot deal with people like that" Wile went on to say that this could, unfortunately, spell the end of Albion's interest in Brown. A further twist was revealed in the local press down in Bristol, where Albion's offer was described as £400 thousand now and a further £200 thousand based on appearances - with a 15% sell-on clause. This may be the sticking point; Bristol may, quite reasonably, want all the money now rather than later, with no strings attached, so that they can replace him straight away?
