East Stand tickets on sale Monday

12 June 2001

West Bromwich Albion have announced that they have completed work on the seating plan for the new East Stand. They have allocated seats in the new stand to all supporters who used to be seated in the old Rainbow Stand, and as a result they expect that these fans will be in a position to start buying their season tickets from Monday 18th June onwards.

The seating plan accomodates those seated in the old Paddock in the first eight rows of the new stand, i.e. at an equivalent position to their old seats. Further back it gets a little more complicated, as the new Directors box and Platinum seating areas occupy the centre of the upper tier, which means those in the front two rows of the old Rainbow will be given a choice between a seat away from the center in the upper tier, or in about the same place in the back two rows of the lower tier. Everyone else has been allocated seats in the upper tier, which will be more expensive than their old seats, but can change to a cheaper seat in the lower tier if they wish. In addition, season ticket holders in the Halfords Lane seated next to the old Directors box have been allocated equivalent seats in the new stand if they wish to take them.

The arrangements are, pretty well, what the Club has been promising all along. However, the plans for the Centenary Walkway, where fans would have been able to buy slabs with their names on, have been postponed because of the difficulty in sourcing slabs that would stand up to the wear and the weather. The Walkway was to have paid for the section of construction that joined the new stand to the existing Smethwick end, but that has been more than covered by the extra income recently derived from the sale of shares left over from the Rights Issue.
