Blues in playoff woes already

01 May 2001

Birmingham City striker Dele Adebola looks set to be out of action through injury for up to nine months. As one of the handful of players who seems to score against us with alarming regularity, this could be good news for us as we have a two in three chance of meeting them in at least one playoff game.

As ever, Trevor Francis doesn't want to make any excuses for any possible upsets in these matches, and has said that he expects Blues to win them - but he's trotted all the usual ones, and some new ones, just in case. Highest entries in the Francis Top Ten are the current Foot and Mouth crisis, the global slowdown in the performance of technology companies (which is causing players to get stressed out over their own web sites) and the price of carrots in Sainsbury's. Probably.
