A few more Preston tickets - NOT!24 April 2001West Bromwich Albion FC issued the following press release this morning. However, within hours they issued a subsequent one saying that "Contrary to the press release issued this morning, we have not received any further tickets for the away fixture at Preston North End on May 6th 2001, and we are now told that we may not receive any. If Preston do make any further tickets available, then we will issue a further press release at that time." Original Press Release - 24th April 2001 Preston North End have decided to release a further 746 tickets to us for the fixture on 6th May, for which all of our allocation had previously sold out. When we receive these tickets, they will be sold on the following basis: 1. All postal, fax and email applications made to the club prior to 9th April 2001, will be met in full, and comprises at least 400 tickets. 2. Any remaining tickets will be put on sale to season ticket holders with a ticket stub for both the Gillingham and Burnley away games, and who did not get tickets for the Preston game in the first instance. Please note that on surrender of these ticket stubs, supporters will be issued with a ticket voucher by our ticket office staff. This voucher will then be valid in lieu of the two stubs should they be necessary for securing play off tickets. We will advise you later as to the date(s) on which the tickets will be put on sale. The mixup follows reports that Preston were considering whether to allocate the final, as-yet unsold, block of seating to home or away fans, and that they were due to make a decision in the near future depending on the level of demand from home fans for those seats. Keep an eye out on the official site at www.wbafc.co.uk where you will probably get the quickest notification of when (or if) these tickets become available. A few people have told us that they've managed to get tickets for the home areas of the ground - quite an achievement in itself given the strict way in which PNE have been checking applications - telephone callers have sometimes been asked questions about the names of the stands and so on in order to catch them out, but postal applications from Baggies living in the area seem to have gone through OK. Wouldn't it be ironic if the number of Baggies getting tickets for home areas was the cause of Albion not getting any more for away fans? Whether the stubs for home areas will count towards securing playoff semi-final tickets for our games also remains to be seen...
