All quiet on the Preston front

17 January 2001

No decision seems to have been made yet by Albion target Michael Appleton regarding his move to West Brom. The player was due to call today to give his decision after contract talks that lasted till 11pm last night, but the Club have heard nothing yet. However, reports up North suggest that Appleton has turned down the move, and is currently under treatment for an ankle injury sustained at this morning's training session. Further reports suggest that Albion felt his wage demands were rather excessive, and that he had decided to stay at Preston for the rest of the season to help with their faltering promotion push. Albion have said that they have made him the best offer they can, and that it is now up to him to decide whether to accept it or not - but do not appear to have said anything about these rumoured "excessive demands".
