Hoult still a target?28 December 2000It seems that keeper Russell Hoult is still out of favour at Portsmouth and rumours persist in the press about a possible move to Albion. Hoult failed to even make the bench for their Boxing Day game and has been training with the reserves despite being reported to have made up his differences with manager Steve Claridge. According to the Portsmouth Evening News, the move to Albion could easily be resurrected if Albion improved their offer of personal terms. However, they go on to say that the deal is stuck because Hoult is demanding a severance payment from Portsmouth and that there is a "war of words" going on between the two clubs, quoting Albion Chief Executive, John Wile, as saying "We have agreed a fee with Portsmouth and terms with the Russell but nothing can happen until he comes to a settlement with Portsmouth."
