Sack a Dingle!

19 December 2000

As Albion continue to put in good performances and hover in the playoff places, things are going from bad to worse at our dear rivals in the newly citified Wolverhampton - if "citified" is such a word...

Following a series of bad results, Wolves managed Colin Lee has been sacked after two years in charge and will be replaced for the short term by his assistant, John Ward. Lee, of course, was assistant to Mark McGee - now storming the second division at the helm of Millwall - and took over when he was turfed out back in 1998.

However, the view from the Wolves fans I know is that Lee isn't - and never has been - the problem. Their target of abuse over the last months has been the Chief Executive, Jez Moxey, and as he's the man who has just done the sacking, temperatures are sure to start rising. Expect bubbles to appear in the custard - and perhaps a thick skin to start forming on the top... [ That's enough cooking analogies - Ed ]
