Santos to return?

05 December 2000

Further reports suggest that Albion may be attempting to sign midfielder Georges Santos from Sheffield United. Santos is no stranger to Albion fans or to Gary Megson, as he played a key role in saving the Club from relegation last season after signing on a short-term contract from Tranmere Rovers. However, the planned permanent signing in the summer hit a snag over his wage demands (described as "Premiership money") and he joined Sheffield United while Albion went for Derek McInnes instead. With the injury to McInnes, however, Santos would be an ideal partner for inspirational midfielder Jordao as the Club make a serious charge for the promotion places. Santos can play in practically any position, adds great aerial presence to the side and is hopefully kicking himself for making the wrong choice in the summer...
