Ugo rumours resurface

22 September 2000

After a period of calm on the Ugo Ehiogu will he/won't he be sold front, things finally look as if they might be happening. Even John Gregory has admitted that a deal with Middlesbrough could be close - but that it won't happen until after the two sides play each other this weekend. The figure has been reported as six, seven or eight million, depending exactly which rumour source you choose to believe, and the move comes despite a much talked-about freeze on big money transfers while the European Courts make their minds up over whether big money transfers are a good thing or not.

We believe that Albion's compromise deal over the 50% sell-on clause still stands, leaving us to pocket between two and three million from the deal - money that will be invaluable when it comes to strengthening our team still further.
